‘Moving Voices’ - launch of Ukrainian artists project
Creative Scotland have very kindly agreed to support my new project where I take multimedia, high resolution moving portraits of Ukrainian artists and other cultural & creative figures. Each portrait is in effect a timelapse - a series of still images shown one another in quick sequence so that the subject comes alive, and these are combined with short interviews where the person can tell a bit - about themselves, their work, their experiences. I would like to explore what contemporary Ukrainian identity means, where it is coming from and where it is going to, as seen through the arts and through artists.
So, I’ve been busy over the last couple of months and have taken the first sixteen portraits, some of them I have posted a little preview of over on Instagram. But here are a few of the first ones, and I will post more as the project goes on. The interviews are just being translated, and I’ll post a few little clips from some of these too soon.
